The Mazda dealer that I bought/service the car from sells about 50-60 CX5's a month (pre-COVID while they still had cars to sell) and I am the first CX5 (first 2.5L N/A SKYACTIV G for that matter) with an oil leak at the dealership. Based on this rudimentary analysis, I would say it's not a widespread issue across the 2.5L N/A motors w/ CD.

Then again, I've said this from Day One. Buy a Toyota if you want great long-term resale. Buy a Mazda if you want great long-term driving enjoyment. But to answer your original question, there hasn't been any major issues/malfunctions that are known with the 2.5L Turbo, neither with the CX-9 or the 6.
Mastik vedel by si trošku This engine closely resembles my hallowed 1990 BMW 325i’s legendary 2.5L Inline 6 for power/torque delivery and responsiveness characteristics and is darn near as smooth at every RPM. Of course the mazda engine is making much more power and torque. What a wonderful engine this Mazda 2.5G Skyactiv is! .
